More and more companies are becoming aware of their responsibilities and beginning to understand that they need to make a contribution to people’s health and well-being—both physical and mental—in the workplace. Every organisation needs a clearly discernible health culture, in order to cut costs, increase productivity, and create a working environment in which its employees can flourish. Corporate well-being programs are no longer a trendy fad but a “must-have” if companies want to stay up-to-date and competitive. They are a major and essential part of occupational health management (OHM). However, OHM is a very complex task with different fields of action requiring a systematic approach at all levels of operational management (culture level and process level). Offering an innovative, modern and professional approach to this topic in a fast, easy and inexpensive way, Joy Corporate provides workshops and seminars for organisations that care about health and prevention of diseases. “Our customers are multinationals as well as small and medium-sized companies,” says Mara Schär, Founder and MD of Joy Corporate.

Joy Corporate helps clients overcome challenges of communication in well-being programs. “Improving employee well-being relies on organisations’ ability to promote their health program. Unfortunately, despite the amount of time and resources invested in the program, many employers fail to encourage more of their staff to participate,” says Mara. Joy Corporate supports the development and implementation of internal communication strategies across all social media channels, including ongoing content and specific campaigns. The company also creates flyers, posters and content for the client’s platforms, including text, video, and photo. Joy Corporate also enables clients overcomes legal, ethical, and practical ramifications to attain objectives like better health, increased productivity and improved morale by creating health and well-being roadmaps. This way clients can understand how they can achieve their goals. And we develop tailor-made corporate health programs for them.

Joy Corporate approaches the complex issue of OHM in an innovative way with the aim to develop operating conditions, structures, and processes that promote health in the workplace. The company works with a large network of experts to optimally develop programs and workshops for employees. The company’s proactive workshops help employees reach their full potential at all levels: physical, emotional, social and intellectual. Joy Corporate offers courses and workshops on communication, leadership and career, stress management, resilience, personal development, and emotional intelligence. “We are constantly developing our workshop portfolio and complement our product range. Currently we offer over 75 different workshops,” says Mara. Through these courses and workshops, employees learn to deal with difficult situations at workplace.

Key learnings of these events are also useful for daily life and can make a difference in long-term as they help build confidence and promote health by reducing stress level.

Recently, Joy Corporate has also introduced in its repertoire mentoring programs for clients to elevate the quality of work, reduce cost, increase productivity, shore up employee retention, and create a positive work environment. Mara believes that starting a mentoring program allows clients to capitalise on the greatest resource, the employees. Strategically developing their talent contributes to the company’s growth, innovation, and bottom line as it demonstrates to employees that management is willing to invest the time and resources necessary to help them succeed in their careers. In return, employees are more likely to be more productive and loyal to the company.

According to the World Health Organisation, about half of all diseases can be prevented or at least delayed by leading a healthy lifestyle. To reduce the risk of succumbing to disease, it is essential to analyse employees’ lifestyle and objectively change it if necessary. Mara points out that an important focal point in OHM is that individual behaviour predicts the occurrence of diseases. The risk factors listed by the experts include tobacco consumption, excessive alcohol consumption, inadequate exercise, an unbalanced diet and obesity. To reduce the risk of succumbing to disease, we should all analyse our own lifestyle honestly and objectively and change it if necessary. To promote a healthy lifestyle, Joy Corporate provides multiple services like health checks, immunisation campaigns, weight-loss programs, nutritional and ergonomic advice, addiction management, even digital detox programs, corporate massage, yoga, meditation or mindfulness courses.

“Our key to successful programs is the promotion of overall well-being. But equally important is the fun component of the programs,” says Mara. In this sense, Joy Corporate develops concepts together with organisations to offer a long-term solution for the health of the employees and introduce a wellness culture in the company, without forcing it. The company works with a key network of experienced coaches in Switzerland for the workshop series and is constantly analysing the feedback from the participants to track progress. Joy Corporate also organises creative and innovative workshops to activate the employees. Employees can also participate in courses like painting, healthy cooking, modern manners, barista course or chocolate workshops to broaden their horizon and improve their well-being. According to Mara, the two main advantages of corporate health programs is social well being as well as fulfilling the primal need of feeling valued. “The struggle to feel valued is one of the most insidious and least acknowledged issues in organisations. Through corporate well-being programs, we help managers show employees that they care about them. And taking care of them is at the heart of creating a great place to work,” says Mara.

In the wake of digitalisation, the introduction of digital workplace health management brings new ways to care for employees’ health. Joy Corporate plans to develop an app for corporate well-being, including mentoring. In addition, the company will continue focusing on persuasive communication behind the wellness/well-being programs to bring the programs to employee’s attention.
